Hi
Welcome to this abbreviated page of my (mostly) sailing related achievements.
I have been sailing since I was 14 years old, started in dinghies and added yachts to the repertoire at 18 and I still sail both now that I am into my 50's.
I passed passed my Dinghy Instructors in 1976 (retested in 1997), my Yachtmaster theory in 1980/1981 and finally got around to doing the practical in 2010 when I needed it to be able to be paid for doing what I had been doing for free for over 30 years. All part of the master plan to sail around the world rather than just isolated parts of it.
My cruising career has seen me sailing most of the way around the Mediterranean, most parts of the South, West and North of the UK, East of Ireland, Western and South Eastern France and also quite a bit of the Caribbean in yachts that range from 30' to 95'
I have also visited quite a few pubs along the inland waterways and dinghy and yacht raced extensively in the UK and Caribbean.
In my business life I led a software house for 20 years, have been an International Management Consultant and more recently have made a quieter living as a hypnotherapist.
I have 2 wonderful grown up sons but sadly am currently divorced.
To complete the necessary picture I have been cooking since I was 11 years old.
I am on the books of several charter businesses and sailing schools and am available for most things yacht related.
Specifically:
- Skippering for charter
- Skippering for corporate
- Racing
- Boat deliveries both on the sea
- Boat deliveries on the inland waterways.
I believe I am:
- Reasonable in my charges
- Clean in my demeanor
- Trustworthy in all circumstances
- Reliable in my delivery
- Entertaining in my manner
- Extremely tall in my stature.
I can of course provide references.

Plan F
Having completed my Ocean Yachtmaster Theory, I am now about to set sail for foreign climes.
Courtesy of Frank Rothwell, (big thank you), I am sailing the North West Passage this summer on Franks Nauticat 515, a 50'er specifically built for the passage.
We leave Seattle in June, sail round Alaska and the top of Canada to Greenland and then hop down to Scotland to arrive back end of September / beginning of October.
I am actively looking to sail the Arc to St Lucia (if you know anyone who needs crew) with Yachtmaster Ocean signed off and then work in the Caribbean for the Winter / Spring.
End of April / May my good friend Stewart Scarff and I have committed to race in the 505 world championships in Barbados and then I aim to sail the Pacific to Australia.
If you are looking for a skipper, mate or experienced crew - please feel free to contact me.
e-mail is best!
